Jack Black Leads the Cast in 'A Minecraft Movie' Teaser: Jason Momoa and Danielle Brooks Join the Adventure

A new teaser for the upcoming live-action film A Minecraft Movie has been released, offering a glimpse into the exciting April 2025 release. The film centers around a group of misfit humans who are unexpectedly transported into the world of the popular video game Minecraft.

The teaser introduces us to Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Jason Momoa with shaggy bangs), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers), and Dawn (Danielle Brooks) as they navigate the peculiar, cubic world of Minecraft. Their initial reaction is one of bewilderment, with Dawn exclaiming, “What the hell?!” upon encountering a pink, square sheep. The group soon discovers that in this new realm, “anything you can dream about here, you can make.” They are guided by Steve (Jack Black), a seasoned Minecraft player who helps them learn how to survive in this imaginative universe.

Despite Steve’s efforts, he doesn’t win the group over immediately, with Natalie remarking, “This guy is such a toolbag.”

The official synopsis for A Minecraft Movie reads: “Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity isn’t just a tool—it’s crucial for survival! Four misfits—Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Momoa), Henry (Hansen), Natalie (Myers), and Dawn (Brooks)—are pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld, a unique cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination. To return home, they must master this new world and defend it against threats like Piglins and Zombies. Alongside Steve (Black), they embark on a magical quest that challenges them to embrace their creativity and reconnect with their unique skills, which will be vital for their success both in Minecraft and back in the real world.”

Jennifer Coolidge, who is not featured in the teaser, also stars in the film. Directed by Jared Hess, the movie is produced by Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Jill Messick, Torfi Frans Olafsson, Vu Bui, and Momoa. Executive producers include Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, Jonathan Spaihts, Pete Chiappetta, Andrew Lary, and Anthony Tittanegro.
